What is Rancher by SUSE?

Rancher by SUSE is a comprehensive Kubernetes management platform designed to meet the demands of enterprise operations. It enables organizations to deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters across any environment—including on-premises data centers, public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP), and edge locations. Rancher provides a single pane of glass for managing hundreds of clusters, ensuring consistent configurations, security policies, and access controls. Key capabilities include centralized authentication with LDAP, AD, or SAML; role-based access control (RBAC); policy governance with OPA Gatekeeper; and integrated logging, monitoring, and alerting via Grafana and Prometheus. Rancher also supports GitOps workflows for declarative application management and includes a built-in container registry. For developers, Rancher offers a catalog of Helm charts and simplified deployment of Kubernetes-native applications. The platform is cloud-native and can be installed on any certified Kubernetes distribution, including RKE2 and K3s.
